NaNoWriMo 2022

Updated: Oct 31, 2022

It's almost here! I've been a NaNoWriMo-attempter for many years now. At first I would get 5K words or so and quit when I fell too far behind. Then in 2018 I did a solid 30K words and felt like things were looking up...only to fail completely in 2019 and 2020.

Then, 2021.

In November 2021 I wrote the full 50K words for my first NaNoWriMo win!

This was partly accomplished because I joined a discord writing group that uses the Sprinto discord bot to run sprints (turns out that works for me) and partly due to religiously tracking my word counts on the NaNo website (love recording things).

That 50K turned into 88.5K as I continued working on the manuscript into December and the first weekend of January. A completed first draft! The project was called FtC. It was my first Science Fiction novel and...I lost it all. Notes, outline, 1st draft. All gone in some freak google drive accident. No trace that they ever existed and nothing google could do to help! HORRIFYING.

So yeah. I'm going to do it all again this year. Only...I'm going to email everything to myself and save it on multiple devices and maybe print it and bury it in the backyard in a waterproof chest with three fancy locks and...well, you get the point haha. I won't let that happen again!

This year's project, for NaNoWriMo 2022, is a standalone Fantasy novel which doesn't have a title :S. Let's call it "The Twin Novel"--TTN. I expect the first draft to be around 90K words and I'm hoping to do 50K of them this November.

More on that later as I work on the outline...which isn't done yet because of all the rushed YBaB nonsense that wasn't supposed to be on the schedule :D!

(the twins in the novel are not babies but these are very cute!)
